Cara

Original acrylic painting by Luisa Manea, canvas on a stretched pine frame.

Cara has taken four goes to get right, and now I'm thrilled with her. She has gone through several cycles where I thought she was finished, but after some time between each image, I realised it wasn't happening. She even looked like a nun at one stage. Having grown up with a few nuns and watching them at Sunday church, who would follow Monsignor around and look after his every need, I knew she looked nothing like a nun and a change was needed.

This can be a process to go through as an artist. I knew there was a reason why I didn't put her on my website for sale.

Leaving a painting for a bit means that my skills have improved in between, and I can correct what needs to be changed quickly and efficiently.

I left her smile and fixed up the rest of her face and hair.

Loving the movement and colours of the paint now; she is a little bit contemporary, which is a good thing as I find paintings like this don't date. They are just lovely pieces of art to look at. She's not too big or small, so it is an excellent work where you don't have to pay too much to see if collecting art is for you; this is usually the start of collecting and having the joy of knowing no one else will have this artwork. This makes a home look like a designer home.
